Syke Community Base ART Week
Our Story
Syke Arts and Crafts Exhibition takes place in July each year and has been running for 18 years.. We aim to demonstrate the varied talents that are going on in our area.
Rochdale has lost a number of Art venues in recent years: Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre has been replaced by the RSPCA and Touchstones no longer hold People's Art Events.
Art Week Mission
At Syke we believe it is important that we support the great pool of local talent, both established and emerging artists and crafts people of all kinds, by providing this platform for them.
Our Awards
We have The Tom Holland Peoples choice award, in memory of Mr. Tom Holland, who was a noted local artist. In its second year we ask everyone to nominate their favourite art work and the winner is awarded a plaque in recognition.
We also have A Watercolour Artist Award, in recognition of Mr Mike Bennion who passed away in 2024, who was himself a founder of the watercolour group who meet at Syke each Monday evening.
